The Rut is in Full Swing!

Here it is, December 7th and the deer are acting like it is November 7.
I sat this morning from sun up to 9:00, it was only 6 degrees when I got out of the truck, but I managed a good sit. I had 3 bucks, 2 2 1/2 year old 8 pnts and a 1 1/2 year old spike, chasing, bumping, non stop grunting and fighting for dominance. I was amazed, but I started glassing like crazy in hopes of a bigger buck following the action. I found 2 other does on the N ridge watching, but no shooter. The whole group was about to move into my scent cone, so I harvested the monster doe with a 12 yard heart shot. The bucks all ran off, but soon were back looking for their hopes of love.
Tonight I sat in a big block of timber that backs up to a park, the deer are on a food pattern that brings them up the ridge from the park and across the road to a house where the lady has a corn feeder. She is over a quarter of a mile away, but the funnel I have permission on is out of this world! Right before dark a group of deer worked their way into view. A big doe was running for all she was worth and 3 young bucks took turns chasing, bumping and fighting. The batch was a bee hive of activity and ended up 24 yards from me. I searched for 10 minutes for a big buck following, but just like this morning ther wasn't one. I took the doe on a very hard quartering away shot and she didn't go far before she bedded down. The three bucks followed her to the bed and put on a show like never seen before. The bucks took turns trying to mount her, everytime she tried to put her head down they would gore her. The big 7 pointer finally got an antler under her and flipped her over and she slid down the hill! It was amazing, I had to climb down and chase the bucks off of the poor doe, it was like spring turkeys when the dominant tom gets shot and the others beat the daylights out of his body. That does carcass had more hair ripped from it... there were actually lines in the hair where the antlers pulled it out.
As usual, Jody bailed me out and helped drag out both big does, with out friends like him I would be one sorry deer hunter. I only saw 2 mature does today, both had very dry utters, both had twins with them, both were in estrus a month later than normal... I have to do more thinking about this, I just don't believe it is quincidence. The normal November rut was week and strange, and now, in early December the deer are acting like rut is in full swing!
