Preparations for Shotgun Deer Season #2
By topheavy on Dec 11, 2008 | In Uncategorized
I finally got a chance to shoot my slug gun in preparation for the 2nd Iowa Shotgun Deer Season. The slugs I have sighted in for are no longer available, so I am starting over. I shot SST slugs at 2000fps and my gun patterns 10" at 50 yards. I shot the SP3 bullet by Winchester at 2000fps and they patterned like the SST round. I shot Remington Copper solids and they didn't pattern much better and I tried the Remington Accutip bullet. Wouldn't you know it, they shot great out of my gun... the worst part is they cost $18 per box of 5 slugs!!! I have 10 doe tags to fill this weekend, so I am going to need a few slugs! I went to Gander and purchased the last 4 boxes they had, I will be stopping at Scheels and Sportsman's Warehouse on the way S to get more!
I really hope everyone has a great season, I know I will be having fun!
