I'm ready for 2nd weekend!

This week was a smoker... too much work, lots of snow to make schedules difficult, if not impossible, to maintain and not enough ME time. I managed 30 minutes of scouting tonight in the snow, for next week and I slipped to WalMart to get a doe tag for a county in SE Iowa. A friend has a farm there and they have 4 doe tags and 1 buck tag left. We will be party hunting, so the first big deer to come by one of us is in trouble. I have taken some really big typical deer down there in the past, and as usual, we have a pretty good photo collection of who was around this fall. There are 3 cull bucks, mature 8 pnt deer, that wont score much but should all be taken, and 2 bucks that each have 10 point racks that are mature enough, over 4 1/2 years old. That is 5 deer we know of and during the push season, there might be a few more from neighboring timbers. The best buck of the group is one of those neighboring bucks, he is a monster buck with 8" G4s. We figure he should gross somewhere in the 170"s... that is big! East wind is expected, so that is good for us, but the wind is believed to be very strong, and bring in lots of snow... that could be bad as we need visibilty to hunt this big property correctly. We wont be doing any pushes ourselves, we will be on stand waiting for the surrounding groups to stir things up. I will try to keep everyone posted, so come along as I continue my quest for another big buck.
